Akron Montessori School is a private school offering a comprehensive academic program based on the Montessori method for children ages 1 to 14 years. AMS is the only Montessori school in the Akron area that offers a complete infant-toddler, primary, and elementary school curriculum. The school is open from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Extended care is offered before and after school hours.

The primary school was founded in September, 1984; the elementary program was added in 1994; and our middle school program was added in 2004. In 2006 we expanded again to include an infant-toddler program. Our campus is located on three acres in a secluded area of Montrose. This park-like setting provides the perfect environment for gardening, hiking, and nature study.

AMS has no religious affiliation and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or ethnic origin in all of its dealings with children or employees. Our programs are licensed by the Ohio Department of Education and are directed by guides trained in the Montessori method.

Our Mission Statement
A student learning
Celebrating our 27th year

Our aim is to help each child experience the joy and excitement of learning. We recognize and respect the uniqueness of each child and provide an environment to promote the development of selfconfidence and independence. We believe that almost every child has the ability to learn to read in his or her formative years and we provide the environment and guidance for achieving this ability. We want to help every child to work independently—to explore, discover and experience the joy of learning so that each child can realize his or her full potential.
